What Is Crystagen?

Crystagen is a synthetic tripeptide with the amino acid sequence Glu-Asp-Pro (EDP). It belongs to the class of short peptide bioregulators developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, and has been identified as one of the bioactive components associated with thymus-derived peptide preparations such as Thymalin. Crystagen is the member of the family associated in the Russian research literature with immune and thymic tissue.

In experimental settings, Crystagen is used to investigate tissue-specific gene expression in immune cell populations, including lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation and thymic epithelial cell biology. As a minimal three-residue peptide, it serves as a model for studying how very short sequences may exert immunoregulatory effects.

Present understanding of Crystagen derives from in vitro assays and animal models, largely from Russian academic sources, and observations should be interpreted within their experimental context rather than treated as established physiological or clinical outcomes. Puritide Research supplies Crystagen strictly for laboratory use; it is not approved for human or veterinary application.
