What Is Kisspeptin-10?

Kisspeptin-10 is a synthetic decapeptide (sequence Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2) corresponding to residues 112-121 of the KISS1 gene product. Among the several kisspeptin fragments derived from the parent protein, the decapeptide is reported to be the most potent at activating the receptor KISS1R (GPR54).

Kisspeptin signaling has been identified as a key upstream regulator of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons, positioning it as a master controller of puberty and reproductive function in mammalian models. Kisspeptin-10 is therefore widely used to probe the neuroendocrine circuitry governing fertility.
