What Is Adipotide?

Adipotide (FTPP, prohibitin-targeting peptide-1) is a synthetic peptidomimetic composed of two functional parts: a homing sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that binds prohibitin on the vasculature of white adipose tissue, and a pro-apoptotic domain (a D-amino-acid (KLAKLAK)2 sequence) linked by a short spacer. This modular design directs a cell-disrupting payload specifically toward fat-tissue blood vessels.

In experimental settings, Adipotide is used to study targeted ablation of adipose vasculature and its metabolic consequences.
